of explanations to why the gas prices are spiking. one energy specialist is stating that the federal government should look into it. the zero oil price information service stated that the average gas price and california is $4.48 a gallon. this is up 175 from just yesterday. >> there is always an explanation. >> the explanation this time is due to a shortage due to the fire at the chevron factory. there was also a power failure in southern california. the energy consultants say they do not buy it. >> we are not have a shortage. in fact he stated that this is a crisis without a cause. this has to be a form of gaming. he is not ready to say that there is price fixing or collusion going on but he did state that the government should look into it. this is a good time to launch an investigation. the governor of california has called on an investigation to see why the prices have risen but so far no action has been taken. >> we will be bringing you gas prize checks all around the area. some of the gas stations are showing there is pressure is up by at least 20%. >> this is ridiculous that it went up

a mixture of closure on wall street. with a little bit lower with weakness in materials and energy companies. here is a look at the numbers. the dow jones was down by 32 points. the nasdaq and the s&p were both up. >>jacqueline: it was hot out there today and still and a number of other areas are still warm in the north bay and and other triple digits and concord, pleasanton. and in the north bay temperatures are in the upper 90s. 99 degrees in napa, santa rosa and and the south they also 90's at this hour. as we look for tomorrow big changes. some fog will return to the forecast just sitting off shore. and through overnight it will be tomorrow with some sunny skies but it will be much cooler. with 20 degrees cooler or more in some locations. and continue cooling. with mainly into the '60s and '70s. tomorrow, the temperatures in the south bay will be in the 80s. 85 degrees in los gatos, a san jose, milpitas and for the inland valleys. still, some pretty warm conditions but nothing like today. 90's in antioch. concord, and '80s in pleasanton. back into the 70's for the east bayshore. and temp
